Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of English Language and Literature is accepting submissions both for the 13th Issue / 2006 (a section of which will be devoted to articles on Beckett) and for the 14th Issue / 2007 (which will be dedicated to the memory of the late Prof. Dr. Engin Uzmen) of Journal of British Literature and Culture. Please note the following information about transportation:
- Throughout the 16th April 2007 (Monday), from morning to 21:00, there will be student escorts with Conference signs at Esenboğa Airport who will guide our guests to the airport-city buses.
- The buses that will take our guests to the campus will leave from Tunus Caddesi (behind Büyük Ankara Oteli) at 08:00 sharp in the morning on 17th April 2007. For those who will stay at Turizm Uygulama Oteli, there will be a minibus leaving at 08:00 in the morning on the first day of the conference. On the second and third days of the conference (18th and 19th April 2007) the buses will leave at 08:30 from the same places.
- Our guests can take the conference buses from the following stops: Milli Kütüphane: in front of the Milli Kütüphane (the National Library Building) Armada: Armada Shopping Centre
- In the evening, at the end of the conference, the buses will leave at 19: 45 (17th April 2007, Tuesday), 16:30 (18th April 2007, Wednesday), and 17:20 (18th April 2007, Thursday)
-Apart from the conference buses, there are other city buses (and minibuses) available in our campus (to and from the campus) from 07:00 to 22:00. As has been previously announced, the 2nd International IDEA Conference, which will be jointly hosted by Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of English Language and Literature, and English Language and Literature Research Association of Turkey (IDEA), will be held on 17-19 April 2007, at the Universitys Beytepe Campus, Ankara. The Conference will cover the following four main areas, of which the literature area has been expanded so as to include, besides English literature, also other literatures in English and, thus, give it an interliterary and comparative perspective.
Papers, based on in-depth research and dealing with topics, issues, theories, practices, and controversies related to any of these areas, are invited from colleagues throughout the world. Paper presentations should not exceed 20 minutes.
In the meantime, the IDEA Steering Committee in consultation with the Organizing Committee has decided to extend the originally announced deadline of 15 November to 15 December 2006 for the submission of about-300-word abstracts, in order to give extra time to those colleagues at home and abroad who have not yet submitted their abstracts. All the abstracts will be reviewed by an advisory committee, and every colleague who has submitted an abstract will be informed about the committee recomendations for acceptance.
